I am a “mid-century modern” kid having grown up in the 1960s. My parents and grandparents are now gone, but I truly get to celebrate their memories at the holidays Below is my annual display of my mother’s 1960s Atlantic Mold Ceramic Tree and my grandmother’s “flocked” Reindeer (Rudolph is in red). I also have a very hard to find Reindeer Buck. The other 2 ceramic trees and church are also vintage.
My mother loved angels. She collected them, crafted them, and gifted them. Above are a few angels from the 1940s through the 1960s that were part of my mother’s collection. Left & right front are a pair of NAPCO Angel Planter & Candlestick Holders. Center is a NORCREST Holiday Shopper Planter. Just a little behind her are a pair of Lefton Holly-Trim Angel Figurines. My small Angel Tree is in the back.
However, I get the most joy out of displaying pieces from my mother’s collection of Lefton Green Holly. I inherited her Tea Set, a Bell, Candlestick Holders, Small Sleigh with a Reindeer, Medium Sleigh with two Reindeer and the small Holly Leaf Candy Dish. I have additional pieces from my mother, but they get displayed in other places around our home at the holidays.
